My memories of Mr. Eddie Cortez are some beautiful memories. I met him when I was a freshman through Ron Miller. I wrestled that year and he and I formed a bond. He was like a big brother to me and he treated me "outta sight." If I ever had a problem with any of the older class men, Eddie was there for me, through thick and thin, like all the others who knew my Dad. He was a most sincere person and he meant a lot to me and taught me many values. I love him with all my heart and may God bless him.
To the love of my life and best friend, I will remember you always. You hold a special place in my heart that nothing will ever replace. To all of Ed's friends, coworkers, and especially his (my)family, never ever forget how truely blessed we all are having been given the gift of Edward Michael Cortez. My life will never be the same.
Big Ed Cortez you will be missed by all you have touched. You were one of the good guys at Northview HS that got along with everyone. Our tme spent togeather as teachers aid for the PE dept driving,Milhon,Munson,Welch and of course George (equip mgr) crazy was one of the happiest moments of my young life.
Eddie CORTEZ I'M GOING TO MISS YOU VERY MUCH. EVEN THOUGH WE WENT OUR SEPERATE WAYS IN LIFE. I WILL NEVER FORGET THAT YOU WERE MY FIRST LOVE. WE HAD OUR GOOD TIMES THANKS TO DAN BLACKMAN IN 8TH GRADE (LAS PALMAS JR.HIGH SCHOOL.)THATS HOW WE MET. THE LONG TALKS WE HAD IN THE SUMMER BEFORE NVH (YOU WOULD CALL ME AT KAREN MURPHYS HOUSE FROM A PHONE BOOTH).I THOUGHT BACK (GEE HE REALLY LIKED ME!)I WAS SO LUCKY TO HAVE HAD A FOOTBALL PLAYER AS MY BOYFRIEND.MY OWN CHILDREN ALWAYS SAY "MOMS FIRST BOYFIEND WAS A FOOTBALL PLAYER" I SAY YEP #74.I BECKY JUST WANTED TO SHARE MY GOOD MOMENTS WITH EDDIE AND FOR HIS FAMILY I'M SO HAPPY TO HAVE MET HIS BROTHERS & SISTERS IN MY LIFE. I WILL ALWAYS TEASURE THOSE MOMENTS IN MY HEART.I WILL DEEPLY MISS EDDIE HIS SMILE AND,LAUGHTER.TO HIS FAMILY MY THOUGHTS AND PRAYERS ARE WITH YOU ALWAYS AT THIS TIME OF SORROW.
Ed always had a twinkling smile when talking the simplest things. I will never forget his presence in the warehouse and his voice which was always calm and reassuring. I miss Ed and his mustache very much.
I believe I speak for myself and all of my brothers who had the honor and privelege to compete on the football field and the wrestling mat with Eddie. He was a friend and an inspiration. You could always count on him for a block a tackle or a pin, but more importantly a joke a smile and friendship. God Bless you Eddie, your work here was well done.

I was a lucky person to have known Ed and laughed many, many times with him during my years at Northview HS. He truly was a happy guy with a smile always. We graduated high school together and although I don't remember all my classmates, Ed is one of those unforgettable dudes. Keep 'em laughing up there, Ed!
Ed is remembered fondly. He always had a funny joke to share with everyone. One happy memory was Ed's love for his ElCamino, the stories were entertaining. All the best to Ed's family.

I had only met Ed a couple of time thru Kathleen But what little I knew about him was that he seemed very kind and friendly. He had a great sense of humor and a good spirit about him. He will be greatly missed. I send you my thoughts and prayers.
I am so fortunate to have known Ed. Every time i saw him, he brought a smile to my face. Ed always had a kind word, a fun way to make fun of others, and just an all around amazing presence i looked up to. Ed, i love you and will miss you. lei lei
Ed, your kind heart and friendly smile will always be remembered at US Agriseeds. Thank you for giving Waylon his first baseball. Go Dodgers!
I graduated from Northview with Ed in 1971. When I think of him, I see that great smile he shared with all of us on a daily basis. Ed was one of those people you hoped to see at class reunions ... our "gentle giant" taken too soon. My thoughts and prayers are with his family.
My memories of Ed are that of laughter, he was always teasing someone about something! Attending Northview High School with Ed was a pleasure and his wonderful smile was always something to look forward to. I'm just sorry that we did not keep in touch after graduation. My prayers are with his family, friends and loved ones. I am sure he is resting in God's everlasting arms! He will be missed by all who knew him - past and present!
To Ed's family, what a special person he was. Even though we all have our bad times in life, Ed still came thru with that wonderful smile that was so contagious and the ability to share it with everyone. May God be holding his hand and healing your hearts while you all miss him. My father, who has pased now, was the mailman where ythe family lived in Covina and he would share with me how Ed would tease. He will be missed in a lot of hearts. Marlene Critchfield
The Cosby cousins' Christmases, Easters, summers, and so many other family gatherings, were brightened by Ed's light-hearted, gentle, and caring nature. How blessed we are to have shared so much of the joy and innocence of youth with Ed - called home much too soon for us.

Ed, I will always remember your great smile, warmth and sense of humor ! We were lucky to have spent so much time together as family. Love,
We are honored to have known You Ed. At our Family Gatherings we always looked forward to seeing You. You had that Great Smile and Wonderful Sense of Humor. We completely enjoyed having You in our Home and coming with us to the Rose Parade, that was a Fun Time. We will miss You Greatly. Bunches of Love, Tom and Bobbi Lamp
Always a guy with something witty to say-Ed you are missed. You and Jim together were quite the hilarious team that could have had a great radio show arguing sports and discussing the classic rock. We never did play I Think You Think, but I think you were one of the best guys around. Thank you for having us in your life for whatever time we had. I'll miss our spaghetti dinners with you, Kathleen and the girls.

Ed helped, challenged, teased, disappointed, surprised and taught me during my four years in SLO.
We laughed, worked together, disagreed and respected one another. We watched Chels and Chloe perform and rarely saw the same thing.
What more could I have hoped for?
Ed Cortez owed me nothing but gave me everything he could.
I count him as a blessing.

A wonderful man, who we always looked forward to seeing... You added warmth and fun to our family gatherings, and gave my son-in-law support in his lonely allegiance to the Raiders! We send love to all.
The world was a better place with you in it. Ed, you made me laugh at times in my life when finding laughter was a difficult thing. Dancing to vinyl records, Halloween trick or treating, hundreds of Los Ranchos events, and delicious summer BBQ's. You were never too busy for a hug, hello or quick chat. As many will, I will miss you but the memories will last forever.
We will miss you greatly, Ed, and we are proud to have known you. Beth and Jim

ReplyDeleteI can't believe it's almost been a year since we lost you. I have missed you every day. I have cried so many tears, but I have also smiled so many smiles thinking of different memories of things you said and things you did. I love you and miss you so much Eduardo. Not a day goes by that I don't think of you. Some days are easier than others, but they are all without you and always will be. I love you big brother and keep you in my heart always.

Thanks Becky for keeping this guest book up.
I have never known and doubt very much that I ever will meet anyone that was as funny, interesting, mentally stimulating and challenging as my brother EC. We were all brothers..The Coolfield gang, and for some reason Ed and I just seemed to stay in touch a bit more over the last 40 years. Rarely did a birthday go by that we didn't at least say hey..
Still alive and well...
Some many journeys..so many adventures...
I'll be missing you my old friend.
Until we meet again..
Someday
